Chairperson’s Guidelines for Members

Chairperson Guidelines provide guidance, advice, or explanations to Tribunal members. New Chairperson Guidelines may be issued as new issues arise. Currently, the following Chairperson Guidelines are in effect:

For members of the Appeal Division

  1. Decisions on the record and form of hearing
  2. Requests to participate by videoconference when the member has decided on an in-person hearing
  3. Computation of time - Application for leave to appeal
  4. Additional submissions in matters referred back
  5. Authority of members in matters referred back
  6. Post-hearing documents
  7. Items to be addressed in opening and closing comments
  8. Adjournment of a hearing
  9. Options for proceeding when an appellant does not attend a hearing

For members of the General Division, Employment Insurance section
