Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) is exploring ways to support social purpose organizations in building their capacity to innovate and move towards participation in social finance opportunities. The focus of this engagement process is the Investment and Readiness (IR) Stream, which will offer time limited support over a 2-year period for social purpose organizations to improve their ability to scale promising practices and work towards participation in the social finance market. To better inform the design and delivery of the IR Stream, we have launched an online engagement process to: hear about the ways delivery partners can support your organization and your work in innovation and investment readiness; validate the supports required to participate in the social finance market; raise awareness of existing tools and approaches, and surface ideas that have not yet been identified.

Canada is committed to implementing the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at home and abroad. A whole-of-society 2030 Agenda National Strategy is necessary to accelerate action on the goals and create a common vision for Canada's path forward. That is why, from March 15 to May 15, 2019, we are asking Canadians to share their ideas and contribute to the development of the National Strategy, which will set the foundation for our collective and future action on the SDGs. Our challenge is to come together as a society and turn the 2030 Agenda into action. We want to hear from Canadians on what sustainable development means to you, what you are doing to build a more sustainable Canada, and what we can do to advance progress on the 2030 Agenda.

The Government of Canada's Labour Program would like your opinion on what a modern fair wages policy should look like. A fair wages policy typically requires that firms with government contracts pay their employees at least the prevailing wage for their occupation in a given region. The goal of such a policy is to prevent suppliers from competing for government contracts on the basis of substandard wages.

Homelessness is a reality for too many Canadians and a challenge for every community. That is why the Advisory Committee on Homelessness is seeking views from Canadians on how to better prevent and reduce homelessness through an online engagement process. All Canadians are invited to share their views and ideas through the online survey and by sharing their stories. The Advisory Committee on Homelessness will consider the feedback and ideas from the engagement process in providing the Government with options for the redesign of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS). Through the HPS, the Government of Canada provides support and funding to communities to develop local solutions to homelessness. Through Budget 2017, the Government of Canada announced that it would expand and extend funding for the HPS beyond 2018-2019.
